Tell me about it. It's hard to break in with a big house without an agent, but some places like Baen will give it a look. There are lots of good small presses and, lastly, self-publishing. Get to conventions and meet people, get a list of agents who handle your genre and send them query letters with book title, genre, and a one paragraph synopsis, plus anything about you that support you as author of that particular story you're telling.
